Once lost is found – a lesson in faith

When my children were small, many years ago, my husband lost his wedding ring. We searched through the entire house and even took apart the ducts attached to the furnace – all to no avail. The ring was gone. It was very sad and although we never gave up hope, neither of us expected to find it again.
Fast forward twelve years. . .
Earlier this year, my husband was hurt and immobile. I was trying to get my footing with the new responsibility of taking care of him and doing the chores he once did. And facing the worry that he might not be able to return to work again. And so I was out watering the backyard one afternoon and there it was. Sitting on top of a small mound of dirt. His wedding ring. After twelve years of being lost, last seen on his dresser in our bedroom.
I felt like it was a message, meant just for the two of us, to have hope and keep faith. All would be fine and here was his ring as a sign. Just keep our faith strong and he would work and be whole again.
To make a long story short, he recovered enough to get back to work and with tons of determination and an iron will he continues to build back his strength. A good part of that comes from his drive to care for his family, but a bit of it (maybe the tipping point) is that wedding ring.
Do you have something that gives you faith and determination?
