ABOUT THE AUTHOR AND HIS TIMES
Eric Hill was born in 1927 in London and evacuated to the countryside as a child during World War II. He left school at age 14 to work as an assistant in an illustration shop, which explains where he learned to draw so well.
He started writing about his famous Spot puppy in 1976. At first the stories were for his young son, Christopher, but he soon published them for all the world’s youngsters.
THESE STORIES ARE DELIGHTFUL!
I cannot tell you how many times I read the spot dog stories to my children when they were young. So many, many times! And every time my children turned the pages through these wholesome and happy stories, they would giggle with delight.
Eric Hill’s stories are perfect for babies and toddlers, as well as great for early readers.

Oh, I loved the Spot books. We read these to our kids endlessly. Fun memories.
We have several of these books in our collection – most of them were my stepson’s books first. Now our younger two children are sharing in the joy of Spot.
We have never read a Spot book! Can you believe it?
