Art and History are learned best when you add some type of fun activity, either the hands-on messy type, or audiovisual.
The National Museums Liverpool created a wonderful website for children that allows them to explore on their own and learn about history (ancient to modern) and art with fun games, activities, and quizzes.
I enjoy this site as the information provides more depth than most other museum sites and does not actively promote a political or social agenda, as many in the US do. As an example, the game of choosing an ancient Egyptian name teaches kids how to spell in hieroglyphics as well as pronunciation and the difference between a written name and a spoken name.
So explore a bit with your child and see what they may learn!
