B is for Books, Because What Else Could I Choose?

Welcome back to Blogging Through the Alphabet! We are on week 2, and that means the letter B. . .

. . .join my two wonderful co-hosts ( Amanda @ Hopkins Homeschool and DaLynn @ Biblical Womanhood) and me as we blog together through the alphabet (Link Up is below)

Now, let’s consider ‘B’. . .

B is for so many things, but the one topic that keeps popping out for me is Books.

B is for BooksI love books. I enjoy finding new ones for my children, I relish discovering a new series for myself, I even love rearranging them on the shelves. When I was in college, I worked in the library and developed the habit, now subconscious, of sorting and adjusting books on my shelves so that they all line up at the front edge of each shelf.

Some people color or sew for relaxation, I read books.

Well, there is one rather immense book filled with a fantastic history of mankind and loads of advice for living your life as a good person and finding solace in times of trouble. That is the book I turn to each morning for relaxation and comfort. It is through the words in this book that I seek Grace.

And, then children wake up, and I find myself swirled up into their wonderful imaginations as they recount stories from books they are reading and stories that spin out of those books and weave through their imaginations to create new tales.

My children love books even more than I do.

When my kids were little, they loved hearing the same stories over and over and over and. . . but I think you probably know exactly what I mean, right?

Now that they are teenagers, they both rarely let me into their book world. They chew and digest a story much longer before talking about it, and then the discussion is more of a complete thought than a simple, “this happened, and then that happened, and then. . . .”

I have a collection of books we have loved for all ages that I would like to share with you

    1. Thanks about the HTML – I will check it out.
Mysteries are wonderful! They keep me thinking all the way through to try to figure things out ahead of the storyline.

  1. Books! I love them too! I also love to see and save others’ book lists so I have pinned yours!

  2. I am personally into a local series by William Kent Krueger and I have started my oldest on David Baldacci. I love finding new series as they get older. I grew up with a mom that would get lost in a book store, and I love letting my children get lost in the library, or bookstore…
Thank you for co-hosting with me!

    1. You are so welcome – thank you for asking me to co-host! I have to look that book up – never heard of the author. I agree – for me the best afternoon ever is getting lost with my kids in the library and lugging piles of books home!

      1. William Kent Krueger is a local author for me. His Cork O’Conner books actually take place in my home state. It makes them that much more interesting! And the David Baldacci was recommended by the librarian when I asked for something for the 17-year-old reluctant reader, he is in love with the one we grabbed this last week!
