Barbara Willard – Where She Fits In History
I grew up reading her books. My favorites were the Mantlemass Chronicles series. This is a wonderful set of historical fiction for children detailing the life of a family from 1485 through the 17th Century. The story begins with the death of Richard III Plantagenet. There are mysteries and adventures and a strong picture of what it was like to live through those important times in English and, by extension, American history.
