BEGIN YOUR WEEK HERE WITH SOMETHING BETTER!
Each week I share encouragement, ideas, recipes, and more to help you relax and be that happy mom we all want to be for our kids. So grab a quiet spot, a cup of caffeine, and browse! Just relax, and your week will be great!
GROUNDING FOR YOUR WEEK
- How often do you feel imperfect? If you are like me, the thought crosses your mind a couple of times a day. How do you regain those positive thoughts and give your kids that ‘everything is absolutely great’ smile to encourage and reassure them through the day? I found a book that will give you everything you need. It is called Making Peace With Imperfection by
Elliot D. Cohen. I highly recommend you grab a copy! - Feeling that stress already? The school year is almost over and if you are like me you are taking stock and realizing there are some courses that your kids really have to scramble to finish in time. It can get overwhelming this time of year. Well, Tina’s Dynamic Homeschool Plus published 26 ways to recharge in 15 minutes or less, for homeschooling moms. Yes! The only question that I have is how many of the 26 ways will I use up before we get to Wednesday?
- Finally, do you like to plan? Are you a planner or do you avoid it until you have no choice but to sit down and set up an outline for your homeschool year? Proactive or procrastinator, we all could use some forms to help us out. Pam Barnhill’s Plan Your Year is a great way to get the ball rolling!
NEW IDEAS TO SHARE WITH YOUR KIDDOS
- A fantastic video to get kids excited about chemistry!
Andrew Szydlo is a chemist, an academician, and an amazing teacher. I guarantee your kids will be riveted. <<read more here>> - Do you teach your children with a classical education approach? – There is a new free college/high school class available online at Hillsdale College called “Introduction to Aristotle’s Ethics: How to Lead a Good Life”. Sign up now! The course starts on May 7th. <<read more here>>
FUN KID-FRIENDLY ACTIVITIES
- Head out to a museum! – We recently took an afternoon to explore the Palace of the Legion of Honor. It is a place we take the kids every few years, but this time I realized they are old enough to really enjoy the experience and we should go back soon. I think which kind of museum you choose to explore all depends on the age of your children, but if you live near the SF bay area I highly recommend trying out the Palace. <<read more here>>
- Do you have little ones? Grab an empty plastic bin and the recipe here and get to work building a simple and gloriously fun Bubble Trucks Bin! <<read more here>>
- Exploding Baggies in any color you can imagine! All this takes is baking soda, vinegar, baggies, and some food coloring. A perfect activity for every age! <<read more here>>
