“Mommy! Where are the chocolate chips?”
My husband and I are used to the occasional midnight questions. My kids get motivated in the evenings. That is when most of the schooling and exploring of new ideas takes place.
And being teens, all this learning and thinking makes them hungry. So last night, ’round midnight, a disembodied head popped through the curtains around my bed and spoke.
“Mommy! Where are the chocolate chips?”
Now for some of you this might be startling, but for my husband and I are used to those late night questions. And we know that the disembodied head is most likely to be our teen daughter.
I think that this is just part of life with teenaged homeschoolers.
So please tell me – Are your kids like this? Are they quirky too?
Our Blog was busy this week – Thank you to everyone who is commenting and joining me as we talk about homeschooling life! I really enjoy the conversation and fellowship.
I wrote more about How We Homeschool : Preschool Art Murals, Teaching the Tough Bits : Pretend You Are Relaxed Until It Is True, and A relaxed homeschool is a happy homeschool.
Interesting products we reviewed this week:
- UltraKey Online from Bytes of Learning (a typing course for the whole family)
- Wulf the Saxon (Audio Drama from Heirloom Audio Productions)
We are evaluating lots products this week that will result in interesting and exciting reviews in a few weeks:
- Fourth Form Latin (what may be my son’s favorite review this year, from Memoria Press)
- Drive Thru History Adventures (online curriculum built around those fantastic Drive Thru History episodes with Dave Stotts and his car!)
- CursiveLogic Quick-Start Pack and The Art of Cursive (a fantastic program that both my teens are loving!)
- A 24 pack of Magic Stix Washable Markers from The Pencil Grip, Inc. (Ok, these are really fun!)
- “Taming the Lecture Bug and Getting Your Kids to Think” by Joey and Carla Link from Parenting Made Practical (this is going to be really useful for me and make my kids much happier!)
