And yet within the last few months I have seen signs that Classical Education methods might be on the upswing:
- Susan Wise Bauer is starting a Well-Trained Mind Academy to teach parents how to teach their kids.
- Roman Roads Media has a great set of courses for middle and high school students with online content coming soon. (We found out about this on the Roku Homeschool Channel)
With multiple organizations introducing new services for classically-educating parents and children, they must be seeing the demand to drive them to expand their offerings.
With twenty years of watching and predicting trends in high tech markets in my back pocket, it really feels to me that, yes, homeschooling is about to explode and also that classical education is experiencing a resurgence. I suspect that once you, as a parent, reject common core and consider the alternatives you wish for your children, classical education comes out as a top choice.
And I think we can attribute all this good news simply to the sad state of public education today that is driving smart parents to remove their children from its mind-numbing grasp.
