Welcome back to Blogging Through the Alphabet! We are on week 4, and that means the letter D. . .
. . .join my two wonderful co-hosts ( Amanda @ Hopkins Homeschool and DaLynn @ Biblical Womanhood) and me as we blog together through the alphabet (Link Up is below)
Now, let’s consider ‘D’. . .
D is for Dreams and Direction
Dreams. We all have them for our children. If we homeschool, I suspect we spend more time dreaming of our children’s futures.
But once all the dreaming is done, how do we help our children find their way? What resources can we use? How can we guide them in the right direction?
There are some resources that really helped me find a direction and a way to help my children realize their dreams:
The Unhurried Homeschooler by Durenda Wilson
The Well-Trained Mind : A Guide to Classical Education at Home by Susan Wise Bauer
When all is said and done, dreams are a wonderfully creative way of preparing. We lay out plans and prepare to raise our children up. The details of these dreams we hold for our children may change a bit as they grow and develop interests and aptitudes, but fundamentally they don’t change.
We want our children to grow up happy. We want them to explore and create and learn. We want them to become kind and thoughtful and strong adults who strive to help the weak, battle evil, love a boundless love, and raise a family of their own.
But for today, we need to provide a bit of direction. And that is why we homeschool.

If you hop over and don’t see their posts up yet, do not despair! We are homeschooling moms and (as you all know) kids and schooling sometimes gets in the way of blogging.

Mostly my dream for my boys is for them to grow up and find a way to support themselves and their families in a way that makes them happy.
I love that! Thank you!
My dream for my children is that they are happy.
That is a good one! I love it ’cause it gives your kids the freedom to choose which way to go in life without pressure. Thank you!
Ah, yes, Dreams 🙂 I am in a season of life where I am seeing some of my dreams for my children coming true – it’s so amazing! Those dreams have not all come about quite the way I expected, but God is good and delivers on His promises.
I am also enjoying a season of dreaming along with my teen-aged and almost teen-aged children, learning about who they want to become and what path they might be on.
The life of a homeschooling mother definitely is an adventurous one. Thank you for sharing your D-Dreams with us!
Thank you for hosting such a great linkup! I can’t wait to get to the season of my children’s dreams coming to fruition! (especially if that time comes with grandbabies!)
Dreams are the first step in a plan. I really like The Well-Trained Mind but will check out the others.
I would love to know if you have others you enjoy reading! I am always looking for new perspectives!
Oh, the dreams I have, and then, life happens 🙂 I am glad to know that getting them started will help them grow in the right direction! Thank you for co-hosting with me!
You are so welcome! This is really fun!!!
