Have you ever have that moment that you really don’t want your life?
Have you ever been tired of yet another roadblock, yet another wrong turn? Why can’t your life be better?
Don’t be afraid.
I realized today that it really is all about being afraid.
As I homeschooling mom, I already know that being different is perfect. Our kids grow differently. They stand out. There is no fitting in for them. Not really.
Time and again I have told my boy to just be himself. Don’t change the way he is, regardless of the teasing. He is strong and true and he should not worry about what others think of him.
But I never really took that advice to heart myself.
This week was filled with family news, a puppy who decided that house training was yesterday’s fad, and drain pipes below the kitchen that decided to back up yet again.
So after a week of doctor appointments, cleaning up after the pup, and doing dishes in buckets on the kitchen table while the mother of all storms was raging outside, I admit I was really wishing for a different life.
Look across the street. There goes someone walking by who looks like they have the perfect life! Please let me have a little bit of that. Make my life better!
Then I ran across a song that started with, “Be yourself, everybody else is taken.” So simple and so true. And exactly the advice I needed.
The puppy is resisting the concept of house training and the disease is here to stay, but when I went into the kitchen to make breakfast I discovered that the drain is clear! I have no idea how that happened, but I will take it as a win.

Very encouraging and something I needed to read tonight. Thank you!
