History Heard Thru Stories

History heard and not read.

History Heard Thru StoriesI recently ran across a series of podcasts created by Mike Rowe called, “The way I heard it.” They are absolutely delightful snippets of history. Each episode is focused on a new person every week. Mike begins his story and you are kept guessing as to the identity of the person until the very end of the story. History heard thru stories.

History heard thru stories for teens and adults

These podcasts are great for high school aged children. I do suggest that you listen to them first, though. You need to make sure that your child is mature enough for some of them. These are real stories, so some of the details might not be appropriate for a youngster, but my kids love them!

You can find them on iTunes, Stitcher, and MikeRowe.com0, but no matter where you find them they can become a part of your history curriculum, or just a little diversion for the summer.

Mike Rowe makes these stories what they are

Now Mike Rowe has an incredible speaking voice, and a fantastic straightforward attitude towards the dignity of honest hard work. What better person for your child to learn from. If Ayn Rand’s stories every came to be true, then I am certain that Mike Rowe would be featured as a participant in the movement. He swims his own direction through life. Marches to his own drummer. Sometimes that is in line with one particular group or another, but none of that seems to concern him. He knows what he knows and he does and says what he feels is right and important. And that, my friends, is the way he is.
