- The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood by Howard Pyle
- The Norse Myths retold by Kevin Crossley-Holland

Wherever possible we try to get print copies of books. Sometimes the only versions available at a reasonable price can be had in pdf or kindle format. But the feel of pages in your child’s hand is so much better than a piece of electronics. Many of the books in the above list we found in second-hand book stores at very low cost, or borrowed from our local library. So you really do not have to spend a huge amount of money to create a library for your kids.
