I look forward to each summer when it is time to tweak and plan. I get to adjust the sights on my kids learning goals after a year of watching them have trouble in some subjects, speed mightily through others, and take on new interests along the way.
And then comes the planning. I was the kid who loved to spend hours with a planner and calendar. Writing in activities, drawing up goals (even tasks I had already completed just so I could check them off), and sketching out plans. So summer is a really fun time for me. Yes, we homeschool year-round so I am always busy but summer means I print out new calendars, plan for the coming school year, calculate grades and write up end of year summaries, and package up my kids’ past year’s worth of work to be stored away just in case we ever need it again.
I also love reading how other moms plan their homeschooling adventures and I have noticed that lots and lots of moms use the same resource: Donna Young. Donna has a tremendous collection of freely printable forms, calendars, and educational aids on her website. I absolutely love her website and in fact her handwriting and drawing lessons were the tool that helped my son change his handwriting from messy over to beautiful.
