Hope is the Tree of Life

I read the phrase, “Hope is the tree of life,” this morning and something about it caught.

Hope is what keeps us going.

Hope is the Tree of LifeAs homeschooling moms we wake each morning early, often just as tired as when we went to bed a few short hours before. What we feel each morning, besides tired is hope.

Hope that our children will wake in good moods and be happy to homeschool. Hope that as they work through their lessons, they will not falter but instead will gain a bit more self-confidence and sense of accomplishment. And hope that our husbands, who work so hard to allow us to homeschool our children, will have a good day. Those are the things I hope for when I wake.

But how does this all relate to a tree of life? I think that the tree of life really is us; us and our famliy.

My husband and I are the trunk of the tree.We started out together as a sapling, fed and nurtured by extended family. I know that my husband is grounded and strengthened by all the love his parents and his sisters and brother and aunts and uncles and cousins gave and continue to give.

As our marriage grew from newlyweds to young family with children, our tree of life sprouted leaves and new branches. We grew closer as a couple as we watched our children take their first steps and hoped their future hold nothing but good. The trunk of our tree gained girth.

Our hope for our children strengthens with each hurdle

As our children have grown and my husband and I have deepened our hope for them. When evil has visited upon our doorstep, our hope only strengthens and our tree of life gets bigger and stronger and weathers the storm.

And so for us, our hope really is our tree of life.

And I suspect that it is yours as well. You may not have a family that looks like ours. It still is your family and that, I think, is the reason for your hope and the root of your strength and the tree of your life.

Is hope the tree of your life?
