The Fallacy Detective

Nathaniel and Hans Bluedorn’s book, “The Fallacy Detective: Thirty-Eight Lessons on How to Recognize Bad Reasoning,” is a great book for ages 9 and up. It is perfect for an introduction to logic for those of you using classical homeschooling methods, and downright fun and useful for others.

Truth be told, I enjoyed reading through the lessons as well. There are references to school settings so if you have a child, like one of mine, who is fascinated by what happens at “public school” but really does not want to take part in the melee, this book is certain to be a favorite.

The kid review: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ (5 hearts out of 5)

  • “Great book”
  • “Fun to read”
  • “Cute Cartoons”
  • “Interesting story examples”
  • “I really enjoyed going through the questions at the end of each chapter”

The Bluedon’s also have great videos on their web site covering various aspects of logic and critical thinking. Worth a look, but I saw some that I would be more comfortable showing to a 16 year old, so be forewarned.
