How We Homeschool – Taking Time for Family

Don’t we all need a reminder sometimes to take some time to have fun with our family?

Taking Time for FamilyEvery so often, I need to sit back and remind myself to take time for family. Not grandparents and aunts and uncles, but just us. My husband and my kids and I need time together.

Have you every noticed that homeschooling can become your entire life? I can get so easily sucked into that homeschooling role that I forget to spend time as a family.

Last weekend we took the kids out for dinner. We had a wedding anniversary to celebrate and my husband and I decided that the best way to spend the evening was with our kids.

We generally eat in, so going to a restaurant followed by a trip to the candy shop was a really special way to spend time together.

It was simply fun. Everyone was happy and everyone had a good time.

I realized that we don’t do nearly enough of that.

Homeschooling can become your life. You can legitimately find all sorts of homeschool-worthy activities that many parents might consider extracurricular. But don’t forget to take time for your family and have some fun together.

When was the last time you got our as a family and did something fun together? What did you do? (I am always looking for ideas!)
