‘Grandma Birthday Week’ is now a permanent part of our school year.
Doodlebug Red and her brother wanted to spend some time working around Grandma’s house this summer – just to help out. For the kids, the 4th of July has always been an early celebration of Grandma’s birthday as well as our country’s.
So that week we spent with her, everything was about Grandma. Even songs the kids sang in the evening and pictures they drew while listening to music while I baked and cooked. Everything centered around Grandma and what the kids could do to help her out and make her happy.
It was the start of what will become a great tradition for the kids, and me.
It is all about teaching the kiddos to help others. Family first.
