Thanksgiving for me is a time of much work. Work and planning. But also doing something I love (making food) for those I love (family).
This morning I opened the curtains in my dining room to let enough light in, so that I could quell the squealing guinea pigs hungry for their morning carrot treat, before heading off to the kitchen to start cooking. The sight that greeted me was one of true glory. A surprisingly baby-blue sky brushed with pink clouds.
I instantly thought of why this time of year is especially special: more than a decade ago my husband and I were blessed with twins: one little boy blue and a perfectly pink little girl.
It struck me that perhaps I was not the only one celebrating this morning. Perhaps someone else feels the same special joy my husband and I share at this time of general Thanksgiving. Perhaps He sent a bit of his baby-blue and pretty pink down to share with me as I opened the curtains just as dawn was breaking. And when I turned back to gaze a bit longer on the beauty, it had vanished into the general gray mist of morning.
Ah well, I know I saw a bit of glory this morning and we celebrated this wonderful moment together.
Happy Thanksgiving!
